CHANGE OF PLANS re: Holiday Orders

I'm busy. Crazy busy. Unfortunately that means that after December 10 I will completely stop taking custom orders until after the New Year. After December 10th there will be a small handful of things in the shop that are already made, and ready to be shipped out.

The deadline for orders to be guaranteed by Christmas {WITHOUT A RUSH FEE} has passed. All orders placed now through 12/10 will not be guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas without a rush fee.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for your understanding.

5. Personalized Family Tree by Elm Studios (have to add a new little branch to our tree!) 6. These cute pillow case covers to cover up our "Bill Cosby" pillows 7. Angels Song Necklace by Miss Ruby Sue (pricey, but man is it yummy! Her whole shop is eye candy!)

Santa - there are also some very reasonably priced Dior sunglasses at Costco that you should get before they run out.

{I am emailing this post to Tony who doesn't read my blog.  And hint, hint to you mom and dad who do read my blog}  xoxo!

Overwhelmed

Yesterday, just in my g-mail inbox I had 133 new messages.  Today (well technically yesterday since it's after midnight) I had 114.  I'm feeling popular, but overwhelmed. Just about all of those emails were etsy convos, etsy orders, local customer questions or local orders.  I'm grateful.  Very grateful.  But, wow!

So, etsy and my local customers have been keeping me busy, which would normally be awesome, but Tony's been working OT and I've been having some pregnancy-related issues that are making things HARD.  To add to that I'm in a boutique this Friday.  I made a handful of necklaces (some best sellers, some new things)  and I thought I was in pretty good shape until one of my very best and very favorite customers called. (Hi, Ellen - thanks again!)  She came by and bought more than half of my pre-made stock.  So, I stressed for a few minutes about making more to have available, but decided that I'll bring what I already have done, and just take custom orders.  If I don't sell much, oh well.  I'm sharing the booth with my good friend, so even if there isn't much selling going on there will be plenty of chatting and good times.

So, here I am answering the last of today's 114 emails and writing a blog post.  I'm realizing as I'm typing how silly it is to stress out about any of this.  There are moms across the world stressing out about the lack of clean water to give to their children, and whether or not those children will live to see another day.  So, if your heart feels open to it please donate.  If you have any questions - shoot me an email - I'd love to answer them!  {And I'm sorry if it comes at 1:00am!}

Apple Hill 2009

{WARNING: tooooooons of pictures ahead!}

We've decided to make it our own little tradition to go to Apple Hill every year to cut down a Christmas tree, and enjoy the sweet town and all of it's appley-goodness!  This year we started at a fun German place for lunch and some hot, spiced cider and then headed over to Boa Vista where we sampled way too many types of apples!

I seriously think Leila would have stayed there all day eating apples if we let her!

We shared a yummy, yummy piece of pie and I of course had {my favorite} apple cider!

Then we headed to High Hill Ranch.  We fed the ducks, shopped at the kitschy shops {I had more cider} and Leila had the longest pony ride ever!

Oh, how I wish we were bagillionaires who could buy her a pony.  It's crazy how happy those guys make her!

After High Hill Ranch we headed to the Fudge Factory for a candy stop {and more cider}

Then it was FINALLY time to find a tree!

It's hard to Christmas tree hunt with me.  I like the Charlie Brown trees.  Especially the ones that are really pathetic that I think no one else will want.  Tony likes really full trees.  We met somewhere kind of in the middle (more Charlie Brownish, though!)

And here is what happens when you tell a 2.5 year old who hasn't had a nap that we can't get a 40-foot tree:

{she pulled her hat over her eyes as soon as she saw me whip out the camera!}

As soon as Tony tied the tree to the roof we hit the road.  Look who passed out IMMEDIATELY!

We had tons of fun in Apple Hill!  We got home early enough to decorate the tree which made the day even more special.

Lesson learned, though: don't get hot cider everywhere you go when you're 27 weeks pregnant.  Mountain toilets aren't the nicest of facilities.  ; )

Christmas Cards '09

How cute are our 2009 Christmas cards?  I was super lucky and won them over at JP Creative!  They just came today and I'm going to be attaching a little flatback swarovski crystal to the top of one tree on each card tonight.

Thanks, Jess!

Cooties, comfort food and Christmas lights

This afternoon and evening was relaxing, and fabulous.  Tony put the Christmas lights up outside (and was actually happy to do it, *and* went out and bought more.  I think the fact that this is our first Christmas in our house has something to do with it...)  Leila and I made some chocolate chip cookies with regular chocolate chips and mint chips while the lights were being done.

When Tony came in we played one of my very favorite childhood games, Cooties!  My mom got it for Leila on Black Friday for only $3!!

She loved playing, and picking out which parts to put on her cootie!

Sugar wanted to watch:

After Cooties, I made this with a few alterations (smoked cheddar instead of blue cheese, wheat bread instead of white and added peas) and it was d e l i c i o u s !!!!!  After dinner we watched "Elf", and now (as I type) Tony is giving Leila a bath and I hear her blowing bubbles.

Happy Sunday!

Turkey Day '09

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing Thanksgiving!  Tony had to work, but Leila and I (and the dogs!) had dinner at my parent's house.  Everything was delicious, and I was a bum and didn't bring anything.

Leila's favorites were mashed potatoes:

Scratch that - her favorite was her "wine"  (Sparkling cider in the world's tiniest martini glass)

And when Leila was done with dinner Ramon took over her spot, while Sugar looked on.

Did you brave Black Friday?  My mom and I have been doing it every year for a long, long time now.  Being 26+ weeks pregnant made it a little rough on me this year, but we still managed to score some deals and shop for about seven hours.  (12 or 13 hours is more the norm.)

Anyways, I hope you all had a nice, long relaxing holiday weekend!
