Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I got a bunch of requests for a tutorial on how to make nail flowers after my End of the Season Nails post, so here you go!!
Before you get started on the flowers, make sure you paint your nails a somewhat contrasting (to the flowers) base coat. I used two coats of OPI's A-Taupe the Space Needle. After you've painted your nails, give them at least ten minutes to dry then you can get started.
For the flowers you'll need two different nail colors. I used Zoya's Snow White, and Tobi. For the leaf I used Camouflage by Rimmel London. You'll also need a couple of toothpicks.
Then you'll want to apply a blob of one of your flower colors. It doesn't have to be a perfect circle!
Apply a smaller blob of the other flower color inside of your original blob (like my technical terms?)
Take one of your toothpicks and swirl the two colors around until you get a design you like. Then do step two in reverse, and swirl the colors again. Continue doing this with as many flowers as you'd like to do on your nails.
**There is a step four, but I didn't get a picture of it - the leaves! No one was home to take a picture while I was doing it....I'm sorry. But, it's an easy one and I'll talk you through it. Get a small dot of the green on your toothpick. Make two small dots on the outside of your flower, wherever you'd like the leaf to be and then gently drag your toothpick out to create a leaf-like shape. It doesn't have to be perfect, because people probably won't be staring way close to your nails. Apply an awesome top coat and you're good to go!**
...and when my hubby came home I got him to take a picture of both hands!
If you're on Pinterest, and would like to "pin" this (shameless self promotion!) here's an easy cheat sheet!
If you do some nail flowers I would LOVE to see them!!! xoxox!
